TicoBlockchain 2025: Innovation, Technology and the Future of Web3 in Costa Rica
On March 27, the fifth edition of TicoBlockchain brought together hundreds of enthusiasts, entrepreneurs and experts in blockchain, fintech and artificial intelligence at the Hotel Barceló San José. With a program packed with high-value content, the event established itself as the main meeting point for the tech community in Costa Rica and Latin America.
A day full of knowledge and networking
From early in the morning, the atmosphere at the hotel reflected the excitement of attendees, who came to learn about the latest trends and opportunities in the blockchain ecosystem. After registration, the event opened with a series of keynotes and panel discussions on key topics such as open finance, tokenization of real-world assets (RWA), digital identity and the cryptocurrency revolution.
Among the most notable speakers were:

Beyond the talks, attendees joined interactive sessions, roundtables and networking spaces designed to connect startups, investors and professionals with shared interests in the tech industry.
Tokenization, DeFi and the convergence with artificial intelligence
One of the most recurring topics was the growing intersection between blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI). Speakers highlighted how AI can strengthen decentralized solutions, make smart contracts more efficient and improve cybersecurity on DeFi platforms.

- Decentralized digital wallets.
- Monetizing video content with tokens.
- AI-driven automated trading.
Regulation and mass adoption: challenges and opportunities
The event was also a platform to discuss the current state of regulation for crypto assets and blockchain technology in Costa Rica. Legal and finance experts reviewed progress on proposed legislation, the challenges of institutional adoption and how the country can position itself as a tech hub in Latin America.
In this context, representatives of the Blockchain Association of Costa Rica and the Fintech Association of Costa Rica stressed the need for regulatory frameworks that encourage innovation without limiting the sector’s growth.
The impact and future of TicoBlockchain
Backed by international sponsors such as ChainMyne, REDFi, Tesseras, Nimiq, Coinpay and Intelchain, the event reaffirmed Costa Rica’s role as a reference in the adoption of decentralized technologies.
